Note: Age determination date is

Competition Rules and Format: The 2007 FIH Rules of
Hockey (www.fihockey.org)
will govern the competition,
but will be modified for playing time. Out-of-state teams must
use the same exact team name from qualifying
State Games competition for verification purposes. Due to the
length of time between qualification and competi-tion
at the SGA, teams may replace up to 50% of the players on their
rosters to offset the loss of team members
who cannot participate in the SGA. Replacement players MUST HAVE
PARTICIPATED in the same sport in that
state’s State Games in any qualifying year (2005, 2006 Summer or
2006, 2007 Winter). Each individual player
will be registered by his/her coach and must sign the
roster/waiver; if under 18 a guardian must sign the
roster/waiver.
For each division, the tournament will be a pool play-structured
tournament with a 3 game minimum guarantee.
Points will be awarded as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point
to each team for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. In each
pool teams will be ranked according to the number of points each
has accumulated by the end of the pool matches.
At the end of the pool matches, if two or more teams have the
same number of points for any one place, these
teams will be ranked according to their head-to-head match.
Should there still remain a tie, then it will be settled by
overall goal differential. After the pool matches are finished
and the points are totaled, the top two teams in each
pool will play each other in a semi-final match-up and a final
match-up to determine 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.
There will be classification matches to determine 5th place and
below.
A team must have a minimum of seven field players and a
properly-attired goalkeeper to begin the game. A maxi-mum
of 16 players may be on the team roster. Games not started
within five minutes of the scheduled start time
will be forfeited. State Games of America reserves the right to
cancel or combine divisions.
Dress Code: Each team must have two different color
shirts and socks: one white and one alternate color (team
colors must be indicated on the team entry form). In the
Under-16 and Under-19 Girls divisions, mouth guards and
shinguards are mandatory. In the Adult Coed division, mouth
guards and shinguards are optional but strongly
encouraged. Goalkeepers in all divisions must use full
protective goalie gear, including a mouth guard and throat
protector.
