Participants may bowl in both handicap and scratch divisions. Those with no
established average must bowl in the scratch division. In the first round,
all participants will bowl a four game qualifier with the low score being
dropped (except for Pee Wees, who will bowl three games). One-half of each
division’s field will advance to the semifinals. Should there be a tie, for the
last place advanced, a one-game roll-off with handicap will be bowled. If a tie
still exists, 9th & 10th frame roll-off will be held until the tie is broken.
Qualifying scores will carry over to the semifinals. For semifinals, each
bowler will bowl four games, except for Pee Wees who will bowl three games, of
which the lowest will be eliminated. The top five bowlers in each division after
four games will advance to the finals. Finals will be held in each division. The
finals will consist of 5th place bowling against 4th place, the winner bowling
against the 3rd place and so on. Handicap will be included in each game. If the
event of a tie, 9th and 10th frames will be bowled until the tie is broken.
Doubles will bowl 4 games, taking the best three games for scores. The
top 5 doubles from each division will advance to the finals. The 5th place will
bowl against 4th place with the winner bowling against the 3rd place and so on.
Combined handicap will be used for each game.
Scoring & Handicap:
Each division will use a handicap computed on 90% of the difference between
the bowler’s average and 180 for Juniors, 200 for Majors and 210 for Adults,
Seniors & Super Seniors, 150 for Pee Wees. Divisions may be broken into
smaller age groups at the discretion of tournament officials based on
participant numbers. Averages will be based on the highest verifiable
league average as of April 27, 2008. If no current average is available
bowlers will use the highest verifiable average for the 2007-2008 season. All
averages used shall be for the minimum of 21 games in one season. Those with no
established average must bowl scratch. Average verification MUST be
presented at the time of check-in. Tournament officials reserve the right to
adjust, re-rate or refuse any or all entries. Decisions of the tournament
officials shall be final. Tournament officials reserve the right to make
rulings for situations not covered by the rules of USBC.
