OPENING CEREMONY
In the tradition of the
Olympic Games, the State Games of America will feature an
Opening Ceremony,
on Thursday, August 2, at the Colorado
Springs World Arena, to celebrate the beginning of the State
Games of
America weekend.
This year's Opening Ceremony will be
an enjoyable evening of family entertainment featuring a
ceremonial parade of athletes, sport exhibitions and
demonstrations and live entertainment. The evening will conclude
with the lighting of the State Games of America cauldron by Olympic
medalist and World Champion Figure Skater -
Michelle Kwan (USOC
bio,
U.S.
Figure Skating bio).

Athletes will receive free admission to the Opening Ceremony.
Spectators can purchase Opening Ceremony tickets at the
following prices: $10 for
adults, $5 for youth (18 & under) & seniors (55+).

4:00 p.m. - Pre-Ceremony festivities and t-shirt pick-up outside
the World Arena
6:00 p.m. - Doors open for the Opening Ceremony
6:30 p.m. - Announcement to line up for Parade of Athletes.
All athletes (except Colorado athletes) line up
on east side of the World Arena Ice Hall. Colorado
athletes meet outside the west side of the
World Arena Ice Hall
6:45 p.m. - Athletes line up and prepared to march in
7:00 p.m. - Opening Ceremony begins
